Neck Bands
(Platysmaplasty)
A platysmaplasty is a cosmetic procedure that tightens the mid line neck muscles to provide patients with a more defined neckline. A platysmaplasty rejuvenates not only the neck area but under the chin as well. This procedure only tightens the muscles and does not remove excess skin or fat.
A platysmaplasty tightens the lax midline neck muscles that cause neck banding and an ill defined neckline. It is common for a platysmaplasty to be combined with a cervicoplasty to remove excess skin and fat, often referred to as a direct neck lift.
The goal of a platysmaplasty is to reduce the appearance of unsightly lines / vertical neck bands, in the neck and chin region.

The platysmaplasty begins by making a small, discreet, 3-4 cm incision underneath the chin. The platysma muscle bands are sutured together in the mid line to reduce the appearance of neck bands. Liposuction may accompanies this procedure.
