Education & Surgical Training

Dr. Abboud earned his medical degree from the University of Ottawa in 1987. He completed an internship at Memorial University in Newfoundland, followed by rigorous training in General Surgery at Boston University. He went on to complete a Plastic Surgery Fellowship in Boston, Massachusetts, and a comprehensive two-year residency in Plastic Surgery at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo.

Academic & Professional Leadership

Recognized for his surgical skill and dedication to education, Dr. Abboud was appointed Clinical Instructor of Plastic Surgery at Beth Israel Hospital, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital. During this time, he actively participated in surgical education and patient care while holding staff appointments at several Boston-area hospitals.

After building a successful community-based practice on Boston’s South Shore, Dr. Abboud returned to his hometown of Ottawa in 2003 to establish his current practice. In 2011, he received certification in Plastic Surgery from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, further solidifying his commitment to the highest standards of care in Canada.

Elizabeth Lavoie is a licensed Nurse Practitioner registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario, bringing nearly 20 years of experience across a wide spectrum of primary and advanced medical care. Her background includes emergency medicine, rural and remote health care, international development, tropical medicine, and public health crisis management—experience that informs her thoughtful, safety-first approach to medical aesthetics.

As a trained medical professional and accomplished photographer, she brings a refined eye for balance, proportion, and natural beauty to every treatment. Executive Assistant to Dr. Abboud | Medical Office Administration

Amy

Amy is the Executive Assistant to Dr. Abboud and a key member of the Abboud Plastic Surgery Centre team. She brings several years of experience in medical office administration, having graduated from the Medical Office Administration program at Algonquin College, along with certification in Medical Device Reprocessing.

As the first point of contact at APSC, Amy ensures every patient is welcomed with professionalism, discretion, and care. She plays an integral role in coordinating daily clinic operations, supporting surgical workflows, and maintaining the high standards that define the patient experience at our centre.

Known for her calm, organized approach and approachable manner, Amy helps ensure that each patient’s journey, from initial inquiry to follow-up care is seamless and well supported.

With over twenty years of dedicated service at APSC, Carol oversees the clinic’s financial operations, including accounting, marketing, and social media management. Her extensive experience and attention to detail help ensure the business side of the practice runs smoothly and efficiently. Outside of APSC, Carol pursues her passion for Pet and Equine Photography through her own successful business. Madison

Maddie is a Registered Practical Nurse who graduated from Algonquin College in 2018 and brings focused expertise in aesthetic medicine to Abboud Plastic Surgery Centre. She currently practices at RIO in Ottawa and is certified in the administration of cosmetic injectables, with additional advanced training through the Canadian Board of Aesthetic Medicine and THMA.

Known for her precision, gentle technique, and warm bedside manner, Madison is deeply committed to delivering natural-looking results while prioritizing patient comfort and safety. Her thoughtful approach and attention to detail make her a valued member of our extended clinical team.

Jessica

Jessica graduated from the Practical Nursing program at the Centre for Nursing Studies in St. John’s, Newfoundland, in 2016 and later completed specialized Operating Room training for Registered Practical Nurses through Algonquin College.

She brings strong surgical expertise to Abboud Plastic Surgery Centre through her ongoing work in the operating room at The Ottawa Hospital, Riverside Campus. Jessica’s clinical background supports meticulous patient care in surgical environments, while her calm presence helps patients feel supported and at ease. Dedicated to professional growth, she is currently pursuing her Registered Nurse designation, further strengthening her role within the surgical care team.

Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)

Samantha

Sam is a highly experienced surgical nurse with over ten years of practice in both hospital and private clinic settings. She has worked extensively in the operating room as a scrub and circulating nurse, assisting in procedures including facial plastic surgery, body contouring, and general surgery. Her background also includes comprehensive pre- and post-anesthetic care, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical journey.

In addition to her surgical role, Sam is a certified nurse injector with advanced training in neuromodulators and dermal fillers. Her deep understanding of facial anatomy, paired with a refined aesthetic eye developed through years of clinical experience and her own cosmetic practice, allows her to deliver confident, patient-centered care from consultation through recovery.

Monica

Monica is a Registered Nurse licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario, with a clinical background spanning general surgery, orthopedics, rehabilitation, and endoscopy. She has assisted Dr. Abboud in the operating room for several years, developing an in-depth understanding of surgical technique and facial anatomy.

In addition to her surgical experience, Monica has spent over three years providing cosmetic services with a focus on skin health, injectables, and regenerative, collagen-stimulating treatments. She approaches aesthetic care through a holistic lens, thoughtfully balancing medical integrity with individualized aesthetic goals to deliver refined, natural results.
